Gundam Blue Destiny Unit 2 Review

Gundam Side Story: The Blue Destiny stared out as a trilogy of Sega Saturn games which was then compiled in to one single game, and then become a novelization. The Blue Destiny project, where three upgraded RX-79 Gundam units were installed with the EXAM System which gives the pilots Newtype level piloting abilities. Blue Destiny Unit 2 was hijack and used by Zeon Ace pilot Nimbus Schterzen after his EXAM equipped Efreet Custom was destroyed in combat against the Blue Destiny Unit 1.

I being totally intrigued with getting this model kit for a long time for multiple reasons like being a Gundam all in one color other then white, the white arm joints, and his beam rifle being molded in two separate colors. Being an upgraded version on the RX-79 he uses the same armaments in beam rifle and beam sabers, and even has the extra ammo clips for a 100mm machine gun which he doesn't come with. Like the RX-79 series Unit 2 store his beam saber in the calf of his legs which the model recreates by removing the holster door and reattaching at an angle to appear opened.

This kit really didn't require any painting but I choose to paint the top thrusters of his vernier pack white instead of using the white sticker included because it covered the actual sculpted vents inside I wanted to paint black. In the future I would like to paint his should pads red which Nimbus did after he stole it to match his previous mobile suit's paint scheme. I very happy to finally have this kit, and might even try to get the other two Blue Destiny units, I just wish Bandai will get around to making the Efreet Custom, and maybe even the other Efreet variation Schneid and Nacht.

Marvel Universe Cyclops Review

As a huge X-Men fan reading the comics in the early 90's you know I love me all of Jim Lee's Blue and Gold teams costume designs, so the default Cyclops in my mind and the version I want of him in every collection/scale/series is this one right here. Not only is he my default Cyclops but the 90's Blue and Gold Teams is the definitive incarnation of the X-Men I always want to see completed, we got about under half of them made so far, still need the likes of 90's Bishop and 90's Beast, and a couple others in their 90's costumes. Most of Cyke's body I believe is the Hawkeye mold, with his head, forearms, hands, and lower legs being new pieces with soft plastic straps, and his trademark chest baldric to complete his costume.

All of his slip-on pieces have superbly painted on details, the red and black for X's is mandatory, but the touches of gold on his belts and straps are a real amazing stand out I was really surprised by. In addition to his new parts Slim sports the new thigh cut articulation giving him well over 20 points of articulation, making him one of the most poseable Marvel Universe figures on par with his son Cable and series mate Scarlet Spider. This rendition of the X-Men leader is a true must have for all X-Men fans and MU collectors, and one step closer to completing the Blue and Gold Teams.

The Dark Knight Rises Exclusive Nokia Trailer

Oh wow, a really action packed trailer with tons of new footage. I'll definitely be seeing this movie in IMAX 3D, that Airplane scene alone is going to be quite the visual spectacle filmed in and especially for IMAX 3D, can't wait to see those kind of scenes with The BAT vehicle. Looks like The Dark Knight's last adventure is truly gonna be all out war, the last film was the war for the heart and soul of Gotham City, while Rises looks to be the war for the city it self and it's people to stay, and worthy of having Batman as their legend, and Bruce himself being that legend.

Prometheus Review

Warning! Do not read if you have not seen the movie yet!

My anticipation for this movie has been astronomical, being a fan of the original Alien movie since a very young age, and I have to say it did not disappoint. I have never been more genuine surprised and excited then when I heard Ridley Scott was returning not only to science fiction but also to the universe of Alien. The prospect of the definitive origin of the Xenomorphs species on the big screen was absolutely mind blowing to me, my desire to absorb this tale with my eyes and ears could only be somewhat described as painstakingly waiting for an antidote to being poisoned without screaming about it to everyone.
Now did Prometheus give us the answers we have been longing for?, well not quite, it's doesn't really set up "Alien" but more like drops little crumbs starting a path for things towards those eventualities but still leaves a whole lot of road left to get there. The best way to think of it is that this film gives us a few puzzle pieces, but not enough to make a complete picture, just enough to know that eventual whole should be the Xenomorph as we know it. We've got four different aspects of Xenomorph biology in four different places, the face jumping, acid blood, and powerful tail in one creature, furious murderess tendencies in another, then grabbing and embryo implantation in another, and then finally the elongated head and double jaw in one other, and so the pieces we are missing are how all those creatures attributes come together to the form the Xenomorph life-cycle.

Noomi Rapace may play the main lead character, but Micheal Fassbender truly is the star of this movie, he's portrayal of the android David reels you in with he's optimistic wanting to learn, help, and be respected by the human crew, you actually start to feel for him and almost understand the actions he takes, almost, cause in he's pursuit of he's goals he's got some bone chilling Hannibal Lecter level moments that are exquisitely disturbing. Now I don't want to say the film suffers from it, but you can definitely tell that they're trying to tell two tales disguised as one story, I for one would of liked it to have been a straight prequel giving us the origin of the Xenomorphs, and the Space Jockey and derelict ship on LV-426 perfectly setting up Alien, but I honestly like and understand what Ridley Scott has done here giving us Alien fans our pieces of candy but at the same time creating something for himself, and for old and new fans that looks like it going to turn in to it's own franchise series while still being part of the Alien universe. There is definitely more to tell, a start of a new mythology expanding on the Space Jockeys/Engineers and their involvement and plans for the Human race that I can't not wait to see more of, but there's still plenty of questions that I'm hoping the sequels will elaborate on like what exactly is the Black Liquid?, Have the Xenomorphs existed before the Black Liquid?, Do the Engineers know that Xenomorphs are a possible out come of the Black Liquid infecting and mutating lifeforms? Why is there a carving on the wall in the compound that has what looks to be a full grown Xenomorph on it?, and most importantly: At the end of this possibly new trilogy will everything finally be in place perfectly setting up the 1979 original classic?

1/144 Gundam Epyon Review

Epyon is my fourth 1/144th scale Gundam Wing model kit, but those other three kits I built around 12 years ago back when Gundam Wing first debuted in America starting my Gundam fandom. Being an older kit brought back memories of those early first ever model kits building days, but also those old school limitations and challenges, #1: more painting then in modern kits, and #2: stickers for details that would be separate plastic pieces if  it was made today like the top of he's feet, chest vents, and most importantly he's face plate which is just a sticker here. Construction difficulties aside he came out quite awesome looking, I don't think he would of came out this great looking if I built him 12 years ago, cause back then I would painted he's arm claws yellow, kept the top of he's legs the color they were, and painted he's beam sword just regular Gundam Marker green. Epyon here even has the ability to transform in to he's mobile armor "Dragon" mode, which even with he's limited articulation of the time still pulls it rather nicely, which may or may not make you fly him around your house singing Rob Zombie's Dragula.

With Epyon complete I have now added him and my last three completed kits to the Gundam Model Kit page where you can see all 21 of my finished model kits.
