I attended my first Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo yesterday. Didn't do too much comic bin digging or toy hunting as I would of liked, but did find some goodies towards the end though. I spent most of my time at the convention waiting in lines for autographs and photo opportunities, so next time definitely getting a multi-day pass.

As a huge fan of Arrow and the other CW DC Universe TV shows, my most anticipated meet-up was with the Green Arrow actor himself Stephen Amell.

In 1993 I was 9 years old so Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers was just as a huge part my childhood as much as any the late 80's stuff that came before. So I am on a quest to obtain autographs and photos with all the original three season cast. Walter Jones and David Yost are my 3rd and 4th off the list.







I don't remember the exact number of times I have meet Jim Lee, I want to say this is at less the 4th of 5th time I've got comics signed by him in the last few years. Forever my absolutely favorite comic book artist of all time.




For toy finds I got a Toybiz Blink ($5) to go with myother Age of Apocalypse X-Men 5in. figures from the 90's. Picked up Marvel Legends Bishop ($18) and Magneto ($25) loose, didn't care about Bishop's missing build a figure piece, was never gonna get the whole wave he was in and in Magneto's case saved me from spending $60 to get exclusive boxset. Now the Super 7 Masters of The Universe figures was an awesome find. He-Man's Japanese retro designed box ($20) immediately caught my eye, then had to get Skeletor ($15) to eternally battle his old nemesis.










As to comics, picked up Superman: Red Son I've been needing to read for years, and found the last three issues of Superman: Unchained I needed. Was hoping to run in to some retro video game booth, sadly only saw two, but did manage to acquire Ikari Warriors ($7) for the NES and Street Fighter Anniversary Collection ($8) for the PS2 for respectably low prices at one.

MOTU Prince Adam & Orko Review

Originally released as a San Diego Comic-Con 2010 exclusive "Orko with Prince Adam pack-in" finally gave us The Most Powerful Man In The Universe's alter ego. Later re-released and made available for purchase off Matty Collector for those like me who couldn't get to that convention. This version of Orko is the painted re-release that was only available off the Matty Collector website, the original convention exclusive Orko was made of heat sensitive color changing plastic, I prefer the painted version to better fit in with the other MOTU Classics figures.

Prince Adam is no surprise a repaint of He-Man sporting a new soft plastic vest and resculpted smiling head. Painted in colors closely following he's appearance in the 80's cartoon right down to he's purple boots and light purple tights which along with his painted-on white shirt have a nice light shadowing that brings out and really helps define the muscle sculpt. The MOTU Classics are more based off the original 80's action figures then how they appeared in the TV series, where the original Prince Adam had he's He-Man's gauntlets painted white, here the sculptors The Four Horseman gave Adam identical round gauntlets and painted them in an amazing pearl white, which is the real standout detail on this figure.

Adam comes with three accessories to call he's own, a Power Sword painted in magenta and purple, a Power Sword Half in the same colors, and an additional interchangeable head with the usual He-Man grimace. I myself would of liked him to come with a regularly colored Power Sword, but Mattel stuck with the original's sword color. The vast majority of MOTU collectors wished Mattel added a sword slit on Adam's vest to hold he's sword like his sister Adora's figure, but I'm guess they wanted to keep with the design of the original figure, and to the cartoon where you never actually see Adam wearing the sword on his back, and seems like he pulls the sword out from under the back of he's vest.

Orko is a amazing little figure in perfect scale with the other Classics figures, and adds another major cast member of the original cartoon to my shelf. Along with perfectly painted colors Orko has three points of articulation in each of he's arms, and a sweet ball shaped head on a ball joint neck which you can rotate and tilt in almost any direction. Orko's three accessories are he's scepter which I think is a scaled down revision of the one he's 2002 toy came with, a closed spellbook, and he's clear flight stand to appear floating while standing with he's fellow defenders of Eternia.

Hurricane Hordak Review

I really wasn't interested in getting Hordak, Ruthless Leader of the Evil Horde, or any member of the Evil Horde for that matter, I personally only wanted She-Ra and her secret identity of Princess Adora from the Princess of Power characters. Normally I would want a hero's evil counterpart/nemesis/antagonist, and even though I do like Hordak's character in PoP cartoon, I felt he's previous Classics figure was based too much on he's 2000 cartoon appearance where he was more of sorcerer then a technologically powered alien warlord like in the original cartoon, so I was holding off for a more cartoon accurate repaint with a cannon arm accessory. Then I started seeing pics and reviews of Hurricane Hordak, and you know what sold me on getting him?, when he doesn't have an attachment on he's arm it looks like a cannon, yay.

SOLD!

Hurricane Hordak come with three attachments, a bat wing shaped slicing blades, a three balled mace, and a four pronged spiked shield. Now the vac-metal chest armor isn't as great as it looks in press release photos, because the vac-metal applied doesn't adhere well to the type of plastic the chest armor is molded from and is really cloudy and not as shiny, so it looks weird you can see your reflection in he's stomach but not in he's chest. I really like this Hordak, and I think the gold armor and he's weapon arm better fit a ruthless leader who wants to conquer and rule, and better connects with fans of the original cartoon in my opinion.

Most powerful siblings in the universe

Bought She-Ra on Monday off Mattycollector, decided I don't need the remodeled She-Ra coming out that can ride her horse Swift Wind, cause I honestly don't think I'm ever gonna get Swift Wind. Saw it as a great chance to get She-Ra cheaper then anywhere else on the net. She-Ra comes with an alternate interchangeable head, golden Sword of protection, a small gold shield, and a small gold axe.

Alot of MotU collectors were pissed that She-Ra came with a gold colored Sword of Protection instead of the proper silver and gray colored, but I don't mind, it matches the rest of her weapons, and her original figure from 1985. I am not fond of the alternate masked head, and the heads are hard to pop on and off, so the alternate head will be going in the extra weapons box. She-Ra is another wonder figure from the Masters of The Universe Classics line with great paint, sculpt, accessories, and articulation with brings me up to 8 MotU Classics figures.

Behold the savage steed of Skeletor The Evil Lord of Destruction, Panthor! Of course having Battle Cat I had to get Panthor to make He-Man and Skeletor equally accessorized, and oh boy is he an awesome addition to my Masters of The Universe Classics collection. I must appalled the Four Horsemen on their sculpting on the new head and helmet, damn magnificence.

Battle Armor Skeletor & Princess Adora

You know for a guy who at first really only wanted two Masters of The Universe figures I now have 6, and a small list with a few more to boot. Today I add a figure I've been waiting been waiting 10 months for since I first saw pics of him from San Diego Comic Con 2010; Battle Armor Skeletor. Was he worth the wait? Hell yeah, he's freaking evilly awesome, from he's metallic chest armor with interchangeable chest plates to he's wicked purple axe, which I have to say was he's number 1 selling point for me.

There is one thing I can say that I prefer was done a different way, is the paint on he's face. The paint job on my re-release Skeletor is perfect, to me perfectly recreates an evil skull that has had it's flesh remove from it and has been decaying and dwelling in slime for decades with it's mixture of green and yellow, but B.A. Skeletor is too bright and rather cartoony in my opinion. Now I just need Panthor for him to ride on, and Battle Armor He-Man to face off against.

Now I have to admit He-Man's sister from a spin-off show wasn't on my list till last week when I saw see was being re-released the same day as Battle Armor Skeletor, but I figured getting her from Matty would be cheaper then trying to get her elsewhere later. Princess Adora is a beautiful figure, the Four Horsemen sculptors truly outdid themselves with her, see looks like she walked right out of an episode of She-Ra: Princess of Power. Adora comes with her Sword of Protection, and a nicely designed and detailed little pistol, both can be stored on her, her sword on her back, and the pistol on the holster on he hip, which is also a removable belt.

Now that I have Adora I have to add her heroic alter-ego She-Ra to my want list. Luckily I heard there gonna release a new She-Ra with a new body to better fit on her soon to be released horse Swiftwind. So now I have to ask myself, Do I want to get Swiftwind?
