Unicon Las Vegas 2021

Long story short, been living in the state of Indiana for last three years, just moved back to Nevada. Been busy and haven't had the time or energy to create blog post, but hoping to start trying blogging more. It's been a year and a half since my last convention and Las Vegas welcomed me back with a new small convention brought together by various local toy and comic shops. Let's see what I did and what I got.

My number one drive to go to this convention was to meet one of my favorite sc-fi/action movie actors of all-time the great Michael Biehn. I was his first fan of the day and managed to talk to him for a bit about states we've lived in before a line started forming. Got his autograph on a print of him as Cpl. Hick from Aliens.

I've been leaning more into hunting for toys then comics lately, and really didn't want to spend too much time digging through boxes at booths, but if I saw a small pile here an there I'd flip through it. Best finds were definitely Moon Knight #1. Seven issue straight run of Udon Street Fighter II was a pleasant surprise. Had to get both Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow textless covers of Dead Game #1, definitely gonna get both signed by Rob Liefield one day.

I don't know why I picked up Sunspot and Slayback, I haven't displayed my 90's X-Men figures in decades, just the nostalgia of opening figures I never got as a kid I guess. Been wanting Weapon X to finally complete the Caliban Build-A-Figure for awhile now. Classic Ultron and Carnage are other long time wants that I was finally glad to acquire. Got a great deal and awesome find on the complete TMNT April O'Neil and Casey Jones.

Captain Atom has always been one of my favorite DC Comics characters, and was stoked to find the Ed McGuiness sculpt from Public Enemies series, can go with my Batman Beyond from the same series. Got Capt. in a nice bundle deal with the original Mattel DC Superheros line Doomsday to fight my Superman. Found some hard to find Hot Wheels to add to the ever growing wall of Batmobiles and other sci-fi vehicles, X-Jet is pure joy. Always on the hunt of the 90's Kenner Power of The Force II/Power of the Jedi figures, so marked Flashback Emperor Palpatine and Naboo Escape R2-D2 off my list.

Didn't see too many video games at alot of the booths, but what few did I gave a thorough look through, and managed to grab one of my absolutely favorite Gameboy games of all time: Wario Blast. Was looking through the booth of an online anime physical media store, and started talking to the sellsman of the ol' days of VHS and early DVD releases, and he help me locate the new Rurouni Kenshin OVA, the very last piece I needed to have a complete Kenshin animation collection.
