Captain America: The Winter Soldier Review

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILER FILLED REVIEW! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

You wouldn't know this is directing duo of brothers Anthony and Joe Russo's first ever action movie because they made The First Avenger's second solo adventure a solid action packed thriller that is everything you ever wanted in a Captain America movie. This begin the 9th film in Marvel Studios Cinematic Universe and close to the end of their Phase 2 plans, Marvel isn't afraid to shake up the status quo, and with the destruction of S.H.I.E.L.D. a staple has been removed that was once the connective tissue connecting the first batch of Phase 1 movies. The aftermath of these events drastically effect the upcoming movies, and even disrupt and completely change the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series which I think is an awesome prospect thanks to the shared universe.

Chris Evans once again perfectly nails it at Steve Rogers, he effortlessly brings to life the brooding but still hopeful man out of time of the Ed Brubaker story which the movie is adapted from. Scarlet Johansson comfortably slips back in to being the kick-ass Black Widow, and I'm so glad they didn't force Cap and Widow into a relationship which the trailers almost made it look like they were, but this movie did set up future love interest in Agent 13 Sharon Carter played by the lovely Emily VanCamp. Anthony Mackie as Falcon is an amazing welcome addition the movie universe, he literally jumps and fits right in, and I can't wait to see him in more movies, and hope we see him join The Avengers.

Samuel L. Jackson owns being Nick Fury, this movie is much of a Nick Fury movie as it is a Captain America movie, his every action was a surprise performance. We all knew when Bucky fell to his apparent death in the first movie we'd see him return as the Winter Soldier, and Sebastian Stan does not disappoint, his brutal fight scenes, struggle against brainwashing, and one flashback scene, all crowd pleasers in my opinion. Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce was smooth and very engaging as the main bad guy, but I believe his character need more explanation of why he was with Hydra, I was waiting the whole time for him to be revealed to be the Red Skull still alive, possessing him like Aleksander Lukin who Pierce is kinda based off mixed with the Skull's Dell Rusk government official identity, perhaps it's was in an early script, or there are some deleted scenes, who knows.

This movie had a plethora of enemies for Cap to punch, but I loved they included comic book villians like Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow a.k.a. Crossbones, Georges St.Pierre as Batroc, and even the surprise return of Toby Jones as the computerized Arnim Zola, all of whom I have no doubt we'll see again in the next movie, especially Crossbones since he was shown still alive. I don't know about anybody else but the final fight with Bucky at the end was really emotional for me, I got scared for a moment when I saw blood on the red and white stripes on Cap's costume just like when he was killed in the comics six years ago, and yelped "oh no" when he dropped his shield in to the water. With the mid-credit scene was are introduced to Thomas Kretschmann's  Baron von Strucker, and the movie version of the origins of Quicksilver's and Scarlet Witch's powers since they can not be identifited as mutants, it appears they've got their powers from being experimented on with the energy from Loki's staff last seen in the first Avengers movie, very interesting, and with Winter Soldier still about and starting to remember who he is, he will without a doubt most certainly be in the next Captain America movie, and if my predictions are correct will even ware the stars and stripes and wield the shield in future movies.

R.I.P. Harold Ramis

 Harold Allen Ramis (Nov. 21st 1944 - Feb. 24th 2014)

Wow, comedy actor, writer, and director legend Harold Ramis passed away today from complications due to Autoimmune Inflammatory Vasculitis at the age of 69, he died surrounded by his family. This hits me harder then any other celebrity death, because to this day Ghostbusters is one of my most loved and absolute favorite movies of all time, and Egon Spengler portrayed by Mr. Ramis is my favorite of the ghostbusting quartet. My thoughts and condolences go out to Ramis' family and friends, he will never be forgotten cause his work will forever continue to be loved for generations and generations to come. Goodbye Harold, see you on the other side Dr. Spengler.

Guardians of The Galaxy Trailer

I wouldn't call myself a Guardians of The Galaxy fan, I'll probably only ever read a couple issues of the early 90's comic, and never picked up any of the modern team's series which the film looks to be drawing from, but since the movie was first announced I have been intrigued in how it would turn out, and fit in the Cinematic Universe that Marvel Studios is creating. This is going to be the first Marvel movie I'll be going in to not knowing exactly what to expect from not only from the film standpoint, but also from each character, aside from a couple appearances in modern Marvel cartoons I've seen, or for that matter have much reference at all to compare how well the cosmic portion of Marvel is being adapted to the big screen. I am glad to see Nova Corps in the film even if simplified in to space policemen, a connection I hope that could led in to a live-action Nova movie or have him join the team in the sequel, which I hope they go with Richard Rider instead of the new kid Sam Alexander.

Real Grade Gundam Mark II Review

My very first Real Grade model kit, hell of an experience to build, starting with internal skeletal frame, and then from there adding on mechanisms such as pistons, tubing, and my favorite internal piece the cockpit sphere, essentially creating the Gundam from the inside out. Real Grade is adequately named, with all the smaller armor pieces coming together to make the outer skin it definitely gives this class of model kit a more realistically detailed military war machine look to them. The articulation on the complete model is amazing, he has double jointed knees and elbows, and with full range of motion for his shoulders and hip joints he can pull almost any pose imaginable, including holding his beam rifle with both hands, and being able to reach back for a beam saber.

The RX-178 Gundam Mark II comes with all of his weapons he has used the Zeta Gundam anime ranging from his trusty beam rifle, to his expanding shield, hyper bazooka, removable head vulcan gunpod, and two beam sabers, which the beam blades that come with him are way too long for a 1/144th scale mobile suit but are instead for the Master Grade 1/100th scale model kits, a weird choice for Bandai to include. Aside from the pair of hands with the articulated thumb and trigger finger, he also comes with 4 extra hands, a pair of closed fist for holding Beam Sabers, an open hand with fingers spread, and a closed hand shaped to hold the beam rifle. Other accessories include 3 additional energy cartridges for the beam rifle, which two can be stored on the back of the shield, a spare bazooka clip that can be attached to his hip armor, and a small unpainted pilot figurine of Kamille Bidan.

The coolest thing I love about this model is you can attach and store all of his weapons on him, like the beam rifle can either be in his hand, or pegged in to his hip armor, while the rear armor skirt has a fold out clasp to grip the hyper bazooka , and then with his head vulcan gunpod mounted he is fully armed and battle ready. Since Bandai made the Skygrasper with Launcher and Sword Packs for the Real Grade Strike Gundam, I’m hoping they’ll make the G-Defenser to combine with the Gundam Mk.II to upgrade him to Super Gundam. I’m looking forward to building more Real Grade model kits, a longer and more tedious build but turns out a stunning example of model kit engineering.

Temporal Flux Turns Three

Four days ago Temporal Flux turned 3 years old, I want to thank my 9 followers for sticking with me, I know I haven't posted anything since Dec. 5th. I have been extremely busy as of late, my job recently had me relocated to another property, with more responsibilities, and not long after that my mother became hospitalized, and since returning home needed help in recovering and in every day life. Then there's a certain MMORPG that's been taken up any free moment that did pop up, but I'll get to that and to new post soon enough, I've got review on figures, movies, and more just waiting to be completed and fine tuned. Welcome to Temporal Flux Year Three, with updates coming in the immediate future.
