Movie News and A Little Ranting

BEHOLD SENTINEL PRIME!
"And my double sided sword!
Oo, I like, I can't wait to add he's leader class action figure to my Transformers collection. TF3 looks like it's going to be awesome, I'm definitely hoping for complete mind blowing, brain liquefying action that will have my inner 5 year old jumping and screaming like the previous two movies did. Checkout TFW2005 for more pics and info.

Made this after I read the news
Ok this made me smile, and adds a like more appeal to the new Captain America: The First Avenger movie, Alan Silvestri is gonna compose the score for the film. If you didn't know he's the guy who came up the infamous Back To The Future theme, yep and now it's stuck in your head for the rest of the day. I have to give props to Marvel Entertainment for choosing him to score the movie, cause with that it should make the movie a bit better to overlook the casting of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers.

Absolutely Badass
Superherohype says the production company Screen Gems is planning to make a Devil May Cry movie. My attention has been peaked, I love the Devil May Cry games and the character of Dante, if done right with the right actor would be great in live action, but Screen Gems has also made the Resident Evil movies. Now I don't completely hate the RE movies, but if you'd played the games and watched the movies you know they're two almost completely different zombie killing entities.

Now I am a HUGE Resident Evil video game fan, I have been hooked since 1998, that game changed my view of the world and replaced my childhood fear of machines taking over the Earth to the now real world scientifically plausible zombie making virus apocalypse. I was excited when the first movie came out, I was slightly disappointed that it wasn't based on the game more or have Chris Redfield in it, but I came to love it as it's own zombie fighting action movie. So you can see my mixed thoughts on Screen Gems bringing another one of my favorite video games to the big screen, I'll be happy as long as it's white haired, red clad, wise-cracking Dante and not the new "short black haired emo escaped mental patient reboot Dante" that a new game developer company is making.

makes me barf, and really pisses me off
Please Ninja Theory Studios don't release this game, just cancel it now. We hard-core Devil May Cry fans are not going to buy it, it will not make the money you think it will, this is not what we want. Also don't lie to us and say it a new origin, game 1 and 3 gave us all the origin we need on Dante, and him being a short black haired emo escaped mental patient would NOT FIT ANYWHERE DAMN YOU! Go to Hell Ninja Theory, go to hell, escape and then get you ass kicked by the real Dante, demon hunter and son of Sparda.

Upcoming Animation

I can't say I'm the world's hugest Green Lantern fan, but I can honestly say I am on the way to becoming one. Hal Jordan is definitely above all the others my favorite GL, I loved the previous First Flight movie, and this one looks to be even better. Wow I never thought of Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordan till I heard him voicing him in a sneak preview, and seeing him wearing a GL shirt then it hit me he would make a perfect live action Hal. Sure he's 40 but thats only 5 year older then Ryan Reynolds who is playing Hal in the upcoming GL summer blockbuster, I think with he's sci-fi background and daredevil macho smartass action hero usual protrayals he would better bring to character to life.

You know how long me and other Marvel fans have been waiting for this movie? 2 years, this movie was first sneak previewed on the Hulk Vs. DVD in 2008, then later a new sneak peek on Planet Hulk DVD in 2009, so we thought we'd get it by late '09 or early '10 right, nope. You know why?, cause Marvel started production on the live action Thor movie, and somebody had the smart idea to hold off releasing it till the new movie was coming out in theaters for more Thor stuff to sell. Which means this movie has already been made, put on disc, put in packages, and boxed up, and have been sitting in warehouses since then. Don't you just love that, this better be the best Marvel animation of them all.

Coming out May 17th

Day of Reviews

All-Star Superman (DC Universe Animated Movie)
Just got done watching it, and wow was it very close to the source comic. Like 80% of the story was animated with very little change, even though I all ready guessed what parts were gonna be taking out I still would of love to seen Superman fighting the Chronovore with various Supermen from the future in the past. I loved the animation used, but was slightly disappointed they didn't try to replicate Frank Quitely's hyper-detailed art style, oh and Anthony LaPaglia was a perfect sounding Lex Luthor. A must watch for any Superman or DC fan, but also be sure to read the graphic novels written by Grant Morrision to see some cool Superman adventures that didn't make it in to the film.

Green Lantern: Secret Origin
I've been on a huge Green Lantern kick ever since I read Green Lantern: Rebirth, I now have 9 Green Lantern trades. This is another great offering from the minds and talents of Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis, as the name implies is a new retelling of Hal Jordan becoming an officer in the Green Lantern Corps but also he's childhood experiences and he's need to fly and join the Air Force that will make him the fearless daredevil superhero. With this updated story they've added bits and pieces that are precursors to the Green Lantern crossover event Blackest Night with characters like Atrocitus and the prophecy of the event, and mixes it in with the death of Abin Sur that leads to Hal becoming he's replacement.

My favortite moments definitely were with Hal and Sinestro showing how they first met and worked together, and the rough starting of a friendship before they eventfully become mortal enemies. Along the way we meet Hal's friends and family, and give new beginnings to some of Hal's enemies, Hector Hammond, and Black Hand. It was also great seeing Hal training to use he's ring in Kilowogs's boot camp, and later dropping a construct of a Navy Battleship on Hector Hammond.

Tron: Betrayal
I picked this up cause I loved Tron: Legacy, and wanted to know more of what happened before the movie, and this book delivers that perfectly and beautifully. It starts out with a quick 11 page retelling of the first Tron movie before moving on to what Kevin was doing afterwords, with the early troubles of he's new digital world The Grid, and the birth of he's son Sam. Next with growing responsibilities as CEO and Game Developer of Encom, a single father after he's wife dies, and building and expanding the Grid he decides to construct the digital duplicate of himself; Clu, who will oversee everything whenever he's not on the Grid which is becoming more and more frequent.

With the arrival of the ISOs, and Kevin's continuing absences makes Clu more and more think he's the only one that can keep the Grid safe and perfect. Clu is distrustful of the ISOs and blames any new problem in the Grid on them and their very existence, much to the distaste of the Grid greatest security defender program and games warrior Tron; transferred from Encom's mainframe to the Grid as Kevin's best friend and closest confidant. So as the story was meant to it sets up The Grid beginnings, the ISOs origin, Clu's raise to power and descent into tyranny, but to me the best part were seeing Tron in action as a great hero and gentle program to the people of the Grid before he's reprogram into Rinzler.

Keldor: Apprentice of Hordak

Today arrived my Master of The Universe Classics Keldor figure, he wasn't high on my short list of MOTUC wants but with Mattycollector re-releasing him this would be the chance he would be the cheapest. If you didn't know Keldor is the original identity of Skeletor, before he's face was destroyed by acid, went completely insane, and was merge with a creature from another dimension. This is Keldor's second action figure ever, the first being an extremely rare San Diego Comic-Con exclusive from the 2002 MOTU line, that came with three interchangeable heads.

Keldor is my fourth MOTUC figure after He-Man, Skeletor, and Battle Cat, like them Keldor is wonderfully sculpted and painted. Keldor's new unique parts and accessories are he's new head with evil smirk, new never before produced cape, new booted feet, viral of acid, and two purple interlockable Power Sword halves. My only real squabble with this figure is he's Power Sword halves, when unconnected to each other are flat, upainted, and don't look like swords on one side, so you have to turn the swords a certain way so not to see those sides.

They gave Keldor these two half-Power Swords to kind of simulate he's Dual Blade splitting sword from the 2002 TV series, but in my and lot of MOTUC collectors opinions was a cheap comp out. I think Mattel, and the Four Horsemen sculptors could of designed a better splitting sword that when reassembled looked like a Classics Power Sword. Anyways sweet figure, and if you want you can put he's cape on Skeletor, now we just need a young Captain Randor for him to face off against.

Amazing and Wonder News

So if you haven't seen here's the new official pic from of Spider-Man from Sony with the release of the movie's actual title and release date,The Amazing Spider-Man coming out July 3rd 2012. With this picture the costume doesn't look that bad, I'm still hoping this is only he's prototype costume before he makes the classic one, hopefully about half way through the film or towards the end. I love their bringing in the Web Shooters, what I don't like is them being big, round, and on the outside of the costume, I don't think it's smart that the bad guys can see exactly where the webs that are annoying them are coming from.

Source: Comicsalliance.com
[Actress Adrianne Palicki, best known for her role as Tyra Collette on the critically-acclaimed high school football drama Friday Night Lights, has just been announced as the new Wonder Woman for the upcoming David E. Kelley scripted TV series based on the DC Comics superheroine.

The 27-year-old Palicki, who stands at an Amazonian 5'11 and listed reading comic books as an interest in her Friday Night Lights bio, will be playing no less than three different roles in one, according to the casting report at TV Line:
• The titular crimefighter, "reinvented"  here as an L.A.-based vigilante
• Alter ego No. 1: Diana Themyscira, a mega-billionaire CEO
• Alter ego No. 2: Diana's "plain Jane" assistant, Diana Prince.
Kelley and Bill D'Elia ("Boston Legal," "The Practice") are the executive producers. The will be directed by Jeffrey Reiner (NBC's "The Event"). "Wonder Woman" is from David E Kelley Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Palicki, who appeared as Tyra Collete in NBC"s acclaimed "Friday Night Lights," will star in the upcoming feature-film remake of Red Dawn.]
Hmm, interesting. I'll give the series a shot, we'll need a weekly DC superhero live-action TV series after Smallville ends this year, but I won't have high hopes since NBC's complete miscarry and failure at a new Bionic Woman TV series years ago. So I'm guessing they'll probably be going with the new Jim Lee redesigned costume from the comics then the classic red, blue and gold bathing suit to make the show more reality based.

Marvel Legends News

Some news from Toyfair 2011 has actually surprised me with some Marvel Legends reveals:

-New 6" figures War Machine The Initative, Crimson Dynamo and Titanium Man.
- Modern Thor 6" figure will be the first Marvel Legends in the Legends launch.

 - Marvel legends for Spring of 2012 will see 6" Ultimate Hawkeye, and Heroic Age Bucky Cap.

- Build A Figure will be back with Terrax, these figures will be in single cards. More to come on these later in the year.
I'm definitely excited about most of these characters, don't really care for Ultimate Hawkeye, talk about a spot that could of went to some better and more wanted. New War Machine and Iron Man villains are gonna be sweet additions, and I've been itching for a Bucky Captain America every since I first sure that costume. Terrax is an excellent choice for a Build-A-Figure, another Fantastic Four villain is always welcome.

So with modern Cap and Thor revealed, I'm hoping modern "Bleeding Edge" Iron Man, and Commander Steve Rogers: Super Soldier isn't far behind.

Who do I want to see coming out in 2012? My top three that are  really high on my list: Stryfe, Jean Grey (Jim Lee), and Taskmaster (UDON).

Generation 2 Megatron = MINE!

Pic from auction
Oh, glorious day, I have finally obtained one of my most quested after Transformers: Generation 2 Megatron, and in pristine MISB condition off Ebay for the decent price of $56. I have been longing for this figure for nearly 20 years, to me he is the most perfect rendition of the Decepticon leader. I last held this figure when I was 9 years old in a KB Toys, so this is a real monumental achievement to me personally as a Transformer fan and toy collector.

Megatron 2.0
An excerpt from Megatron's Transformers Wiki page:
"Although thought dead for a year or two, Megatron had actually survived the Ark crash, and had quietly worked to repair it, concealing it beneath the ground. From there, Megatron tracked a signal, mistakenly believing it was another Transformer, but instead he found the shape-shifting castle of the terrorist organization, Cobra. He entered into a bargain with its leader, Cobra Commander, offering him the technology of the Ark in exchange for the new weapons his organization was developing. Reconstructed into a new tank body with a powerful rail gun, Megatron defeated a squad of Autobots sent to stop him, and then turned on Cobra, and escaped in the Ark.

He Will Tread On You
Oh yes, I am gonna open him, I can't wait to display him next to my Powermaster Optimus Prime. Expect pics, and a review on G2 Megs as soon as he arrives.

X-Men: First Class Teaser Trailer

Woah! That was awesome, I am now officially freaking psyched for this movie. Holy shit was that Magneto in a full head to toe red costume? A SR-71 Blackbird in the 60's, and we get to see Beast further mutation. That look better then all previous X-Men movies put together, watching that trailer made feel how I felt when I saw the very first X-Men movie trailer.

From the look of this trailer this movie is looking like it's gonna replace X2: X-Men United as my favorite X-Men movie. Can't wait to see the full theatrical trailer.

Happy Birthday Bruce Timm

Today is the 50th birthday of a great industry icon, a man who's birthday is sure to be celebrated by watching he's work, and that man is Bruce Timm. If you don't know who he is, he is the man who is in my most  honest opinion singlehandily most responsible for keeping DC Comics in business, how you ask? By he's awesome work on the animated series and features; Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, all the DC Universe animated movies, and the upcoming Green Lantern CGI animated series as character designer, animator, and producer.

So even though he has no part in the comic book department of DC, or even the company proper, I believe the work he has done and is currently doing is what introduces, re-introduces, and keeps continuing interest in many, if not most of DC's characters. So I see Bruce Timm as a gateway for not just for the great works he himself has done, but also for unknowingly generating the interest and demand that has given us:

-Movies like Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Green Lantern, the upcoming Superman movie, and the many more DC superhero movie down the line.

- Video games like Batman: Arkham Asylum and DC Universe Online.

- The DC Universe Classics, DC Universe Infinite Heroes, and DC Direct action figure lines.

- Last, but not least the continuing production of DC Comic books, which a lot of stories from he's TV series were adapted from, and vise versa, stuff he help to create making it in the comics.

So happy birthday Bruce, and many more to you, and most of all thank you for all you hard work and dedication over the years. To see some he's great hand drawn work just type he's name in Google or Bing.

Future Custom Model Kit

GM Custom "Custom"

Thinking of doing a custom painted Gundam model kit, the suit in question the RGM-79N GM Custom from the Gundam 0083 OVA series. With the white and blue scheme I going for a Knightly Protector of the peace feel. I'll start looking into what I need to make it, the kit itself and spray paint colors, etc., after I complete my Master Grade Ez8, so it's still a couple builds away.

RX-78-3 Gundam G-3 Completed

Completed the weapons yesterday, and finished the detail up today. Still gonna put some decals on him, but he's practically done. No problems or complaints about this build, nice, simple and easy. I did do a little unique custom paint choices, left the shield cross gray instead of painting it yellow, gray instead of yellow on the crotch mark, and put blue in the Beam Rifle scope.

Now I'm on to my next build the Zaku II F2.
