I will admit I was a little apprehensive going into this new big budget adaptation of"Marvel's First Family", but it quickly melted away minutes in to the film, and that was due to the phenomenal actors. I was worried Pedro Pascal was just gonna end up playing himself, but he pulled off the tortured scientist incredibly well. Vanessa Kirby truly embodied the strong mother, and leading force of Sue Storm.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach's voice and motion capture brought to life a lovable charismatic, and emotive Ben Grimm. My biggest concern was Jospeh Quinn as Johnny Storm, he took me the longest to gauge, but scene after scene I slowly warmed up to him, and started to see why he was chosen. What can I say about Galactus voiced by Ralph Ineson? Comic accurate unstoppable force that filled this fanboy with awe and glee, 'nuff said.
Director Matt Shaknan really knocked it out of the park, his direction combined with the amazing chemistry of the actors have made a Fantastic Four movie worth waiting for. Elevating above mere superhero movie First Steps is thrilling sci-fi drama that showcases the characters as explorers, ambassadors, and most important of all family. This movie shines with the care, and devotion of bringing comic book grandiose to live action, and should be held as an example for future MCU productions.
