The Dark Knight Rises Teaser

Oh, and it teases, so many questions risen. I am totally surprised we have a teaser this early, so begins the addiction to the hype. I have complete faith in Christoper Nolan, and that TDKR will be the movie of the year, yes possibly even over Marvel's The Avengers.

Sinestro In/Hal Jordan Out?

So an alternate cover of September's relaunch Green Lantern #1 and the cover to #2 were revealed today, and by complete fricking surprise Sinestro as a Green Lantern is on them. Yeah apparently a green ring chose Sinestro while helping Hal Jordan against Krona  and the Entity possessed Guardians of The Universe in the current War of The Green Lanterns story. Then after they defeated Krona, and freed the Guardians, the Guardians strip Jordan of he's ring and send back to Earth.

Here's a synopsis of Green Lantern #67 written by my friend Sparky Prime over at TfUnlimited:

The Green Lanterns need to free the Guardians from the Entities, but since they Guardians have rejected emotion, they can't make them feel anything to free them. Instead, Hal decides they need to free the other ring bearers so that they can instead make contact with the Entities. To do that, he tells Kyle to just draw in the Book of the Black them getting free.

It works, but as their rings return to their owners, Krona overrides them to use himself. He attacks Hal and they argue over various faults of the Guardians. Hal's points seem to inspire Sinestro, who grabs a piece of scrap metal to attack Krona. It barely phases him, but the act of fearlessness prompts a Green Lantern ring to choose Sinestro. Together with Hal, they fight Krona and Hal manages to deliver a killing shot.

With Krona dead, the Entities are able to free themselves from the Guardians, and the rings he was wearing return to their owners, save for Sinestro's which flies off into space. The Guardians look over Krona's lifeless form, saying the Green Lantern rings are programmed not to be able to kill any Guardian, yet somehow Hal's Will overrode that. Hal tells Sinestro to remove the Green Lantern ring, but the Guardians step in and say they will assess the situation. In the meantime, they teleport the other ring bearers off of Oa telling them they are not welcome, and discharge Hal from the Green Lanterns, taking his ring and teleporting him back to Earth.

So Hal is kicked out of the Corps cause he killed Krona, but Krona was never a Guardian of the Universe he was a Maltusian before they "evolved" in to their Guardian forms, so the rule of killing a Guardian shouldn't apply in the first place. Ok, so they discharged him not only for killing Krona but they had also found out Hal had been secretly working with members of the other Lantern Corps and charged him with treason as well, but we know he won't be out long cause we know he's a Green Lantern in Justice League in September, unless those stories take place in the past. Guess we'll see in the upcoming War of The Green Lanterns: Aftermath mini-series if and how he get's he's ring back.

Sinestro as a Green Lantern again, never thought I'd see that happen outside an alternate reality tale. Members of the Green Lantern corps had trouble with Hal Jordan being reinstated and he had a legitimate excuse cause of he's possession by Parallax, but Sinestro willingly killed Green Lanterns. Man I might actually have to get these new issues, definitely want to see how this plays out.

Dark Knight Rises Teaser Poster

About a year from now we'll be seeing the end of Nolan's epic Bat-trilogy, and this poster shows it's all coming down. Now I have heard fans on other sites today complaining this poster remains them to much of Christopher Nolan's last film Inception, WHO CARES! It's an awesome poster, it's either a coincidence or on purpose leave it at that, yeesh.

Batman: Arkham City Riddler Trailer

This game is going to rule us so hard. Visually, storywise, gameplay, all are gonna be mindblowingly awesome. Bring on the Knight.  

DCnu and Me

I never bought many individual DC comics, I probably have about 10, I grew up faithfully devoted to Marvel. Though with in the last year I have started collecting DC trade paperbacks and hardcover graphic novels, at last count almost 50 consisting most of Batman, Green Lantern, and Superman. So if you read my initial rant about the relaunch I said I'd most likely sit it out, but since then more info on the books has been released, so out of the new 52 only 20 look good or interesting to me, so here are those and my reasons why I would might get them when they come out.

08/31 JUSTICE LEAGUE written by Geoff Johns with art by Jim Lee, so with a great writer and long time favorite artist that enough for me, even though I'm not a huge fan of Lee's new costume redesigns.

09/07 ACTION COMICS written by Grant Morrison with art by Rags Morales. Grant Morrison writing Superman, I don't care if it is another new origin, written by Morrison it's going to be awesome.

09/07 BATGIRL written by Gail Simone with art by Ardian Syaf, K so I'm intrigued by the controversial story of Barbra Gordon's return as Batgirl. I got see how see how see gets back into the action.

09/07 DETECTIVE COMICS written and art by Tony S. Daniel, just on the fact it's a new Detective Comics #1, and to see how and if the new status quo is acknowledged.

09/07 SWAMP THING written by Scott Snyder with art by Yanick Paquette, to see where Swamp Thing is going and doing as Earth's New Guardian after the Search For Swamp Thing mini series.

09/14 BATMAN AND ROBIN written by Peter J. Tomasi with art by Patrick Gleason, Tomasi has done good Green Lantern stories and like to see how he handles Batman working with he's son as Robin.

09/14 DEATHSTROKE written by Kyle Higgins with art by Joe Bennett. Love The Terminator, can't wait to see he's new place in new DCU. Not sure about the armor though, looks like Marvel's Sinsear villain from the 90's.

09/14 GREEN LANTERN written by Geoff Johns with art by Doug Mahnke, solicitation says a new Green Lantern is introduced, so I wonder it's an actual new person or a retelling of Hal Jordan getting he's ring, I lean towards the later.

09/14 RED LANTERNS written by Peter Milligan with art by Ed Benes, Hmm I really never saw Red Lanterns holding their own monthly but hey it has to do with Green Lanterns and is drawn by Ed Benes I'll bite.

09/21 BATMAN written by Scott Snyder with art by Greg Capullo, I've heard Snyder's run of Detective Comics was really good, and being a previous Spawn artist I can't wait to see Cappullo's Batman.

09/21 CAPTAIN ATOM written by J.T. Krul with art by Freddie Williams II, interested to see the new take of Captain Atom. I have an old friend to thank for my interest in Captain Atom, who pointed out he's similarities to Marvel's Cable.

09/21 GREEN LANTERN CORPS written by Peter J. Tomasi with art by Fernando Pasarin, It's Green Lantern Corps following Guy Gardner, John Stewart, and Kilowog, you know it would definitely be on my pull list.

09/21 NIGHTWING written by Kyle Higgins with art by Eddy Barrows, definitely want to see how Dick reestablishes himself as Nightwing, and why he's gone from blue to red.

 

09/21 RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS written by Scott Lobdell with art by Kenneth Rocafort, I'm a huge Jason Todd fan and I think him becoming the Red Hood was a great and unique villain for Batman. Also like Arsenal and Starfire so I think it's going to be a cool team dynamic which I know Lobdell can do justice.

09/28 AQUAMAN written by Geoff Johns with art by Ivan Reis, the team that revitalized Green Lantern and The Flash now doing the same for Aquaman. I've been enjoying Aquaman in Brightest Day, so I definitely want to see more of him in he's own part of the universe against he's enemies.

09/28 BATMAN THE DARK KNIGHT written and drawn by David Finch, David Finch writing and drawing Batman, that's enough to make me want it.

09/28 FLASH written by Francis Manapul with art by Brian Buccellato, haven't read the current Flash series currently out but I want to, seems to be a continuation of that series with the same team. I'm a Barry Allen fan, so I'd be there to see how he's is in the DCnu.

09/28 GREEN LANTERN NEW GUARDIANS written by Tony Bedard and drawn by Tyler Kirkham, I've never read any of Kyle Rayner's days as the one and only Green Lantern but I've started to get a better respect for him from he's appearances in GL and GL Corps, and I'm curious to know about he's team of various other Lanterns and what they'll be doing.

09/28 SUPERMAN written by George Perez with art by Jesus Merino, Arg that new costume is ugly, but I want see what Supes new status quo is, and to see what happens with he's relationship with Lois, which I hear may be going the Marvel Spider-Man: One More Day route, arg.

09/28 TEEN TITANS written by Scott Lobdell with art by Brett Booth, this one just to see what Tim Drake is going to be up to, always liked the Teen Titans/Young Justice/New Mutant/X-Academy  kind of teams.

If I do end up getting any of these you can rest assured I'll be posting my thoughts about them.

Also, this is my 100th post and as you can see I have already done some changes to celebrate, and now I unveil a new banner. With nearly 6000 page views I want to thank all my readers, and to say don't be afraid to leave comments, or to officially follow me, I look forward to hearing comments and commenting back to others.

Excuse me well I pick my jaw up off the floor, and return it to it's natural position. Damn, that is awesome, I'm sorry Lord Vader but The Goddamn Batman would take you out, cause The Force, your Cybernetics, and your Lightsaber are just momentary hazards for him work to around until out of nowhere you have a electrical Batarang in your life support control panel and your out for the count. Don't believe me, read books like Batman: R.I.P. and The Return of Bruce Wayne both by Grant Morrison, and not tell me that the guy who mentally conditioned himself to have an emergency back-up Batman operating system personality if he's mind was ever attempted to be tampered with wouldn't win.

Star Wars FPS

I love Star Wars, and Jedi are freaking awesome, but sometimes I want to shot a Blaster instead of swing a Lightsaber like in two of my favorite Star Wars First Person Shooters Dark Forces and Republic Commando. Now I'm not a huge FPS gamer but I have enjoyed games like Halo and Dead Space, and discussing with my brother, a huge FPS gamer, the other day that is about time a more "gritty and realistic" SWFPS along the lines of Modern Warfare and Rainbow Six: Vegas needs to be made. Now Lucasarts look at this fan made mod patch for Modern Warfare on the PC, it doesn't look that great, but to it looks to me like a start of other similar minded fans want this too, so if you team-up with the production/design teams that makes one of those "gritty and realistic" FPSs and give us the option to be a Clone Trooper, Stormtrooper, Republic Soldier, Rebel Soldier, Mercenary, and/or Bounty Hunter we will buy it.

I can't wait to be out of Blaster Rifle energy and have to switch to my Blaster Pistol, and one lone Thermal Detonator taking cover behind a cargo container on an Imperial base so close to my mission objective, but a dug in squad of Stormtrooper is the last obstacle in my way, oh yeah.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon Review

Wow, what can I say about TF3? It was awesome, I loved every minute of it. I don't know who's idea it was, either Leonard Nimoy's or the script writers after Nimoy was cast, but hearing Sentinel Prime say "The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few" blew me away, pure nerdgasam. Other great Transfan pleasures were Laserbeak landing on Soundwave's arm and when Laserbeak was hiding as a copying machine the sounds made pushing he's buttons sounded like the original G1 Transformers theme.

As always Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime is incredible and just adds epicness to the movie, and no one could have made the character of Sentinel Prime more believable and on par with Cullen then Leonard Nimoy. I forgot Alan Tudyk was gonna be in this movie, if you've seen him in great sci-fi shows Firefly, Dollhouse, and V then you know he's an amazing actor, so seeing him in this movie just made it a 1000% better just with him being in it. I do have to say I liked Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as Carly more then Megan Fox's character of Mikaela, and of course love her being an additional actual G1 human character.

I give Dark of The Moon 9 out of 10 Space Bridge Pillars, it was truly a pure joy to see in IMAX 3D. The story with Decepticons on the Moon and working with humans was great story and felt like a ol' G1 episode brought to life, modernized, and darkened, but I feel like a few story details and/or editing could of been handled better like Optimus get caught in crane cables, and the barely used Shockwave could been a far more intimidating if he we given some lines to say, to name a couple. Now I may catch some flak for this, but I have to say I like Revenge of The Fallen a bit more then this chapter, to me it's story and action sequences were more darker, emotional shocking, and world threatening, but Dark of The Moon still kicks ass, doesn't suffer for "Third Movie Syndrome" and will become a much loved rewatch as the other two.

Hope the rumors of Steven Spielberg wanting to make Transformers 4 pans out, cause that would be amazing. Plenty more Autobots, Decepticons, and other great Transformers mythos to bring to the big screen. Personal wants would be Unicron, Ultra Magnus, Prowl, and Bludgeon.
