Smallville Finale Review and Thoughts

10 YEARS! 10 FREAKING YEARS OF PORTRAYING CLARK KENT, AND THEY COULDN'T LET TOM WELLING WEAR A FULL HEAD-TO-TOE WITH CAPE SUPERMAN SUIT FOR EVEN A DAMN MINUTE ON SCREEN! AFTER 10 YEARS THEY WOULDN'T GIVE HIM THE DAMN COURTESY TO ACTUALLY BE SUPERMAN.

Damn man, that really pisses my off, and I crash coursed all of Smallville in under a year, it must hurt fans even more who watched the show since the beginning 10 years ago watching for the day Tom Welling would don the suit and finally get he's moment as The Man of Steel, but NO, they and I were cheated. The series finale was on par with any of the previous season finales, a lot of building up with drama, suspension of disbelief situations, little change, and bam! quickly resolved at the end, only this time without the Clark in danger cliffhanger. The finale, the very last episode of the TV series, and we did not see Tom Welling in a full physical Superman suit for any length of time, WHAT THE HELL writers and producers?

What I did like was the return of Lex Luthor, and both of he's scenes were great, and definitely loved how they solve the problem of him knowing everything about Clark. All the scenes with John Schneider as Johnathan Kent was a welcome sight in this final episode. Loved the wedding vows Clark and Lois wrote for each other, but I felt the whole second guessing and doubting by the both of them was totally unneeded just to stretch the finale into two hours, a whole hour that could of been used for more action, like Clark and friends fighting the Prophets, then Clark being the only one that can fight the actual physical Darkseid would of made a great two hour finale.

Which brings me to my one real moment suspension of disbelief that was hrad to swallow was not only does Green Arrow finds out or remembers were the Prophets are, but he easily deposes of all three of them with a triple arrow shoot, and none of them try to stop the arrows with their powers, really that simple and quick? All things aside I am not saying this was a bad episode, just it was a badly executed series finale this if handled just a little differently could of made all the difference in it being more memorable for the right reasons instead of what it's now gonna be remember as. Let's look at how many of my hopes for the finale came true...

Hope Clark defeats Darkseid as Superman not The Blur (Verdict: Nope, took out "Darkseid" as Clark Kent)
Hope Clarks defeats Darkseid, not one of he's friends (Verdict: Yes, him all by himself, he did)
Hope we see a solid full body non-smoke Darkseid (Verdict: Nope, more smoke, and a possession)
Hope Darkseid is not defeated quickly and easily (Verdict: Nope, one foul swoop, gone!)
Hope Clark starts flying before the final battle, not during it or just before it (Verdict: Arg! Nope, was technically during he's non-fight with "Darkseid" possessed Lionel corpse)
Hope Lex has more then just a couple quick scenes (Verdict: No, just two, but both were great)
Hope Chole doesn't die (Verdict: Yay, she survived)Hope the wedding is not a dream (Verdict: Yes & No, Wedding was not a dream but not completed)
Hope Lois and Clark actually do get married, not put off to be destined to happen later (Verdict: Nope, seven years in to the future and they're just now about to get married)
Hope we see Clark in the Superman suit for more than a minute (Verdict: Nope, the total amount we see of CGIman is definitely under a minute)
Hope we see Clark in the Superman suit for more than 5 minutes (Verdict: Nope)
Hope we see Clark in the Superman suit for more than 10 minutes (Verdict: Nope)
Hope we see Clark in the Superman suit for at less 15 minutes (Verdict: Nope)
Hope we finally get a cameo or at less a proper name drop of Bruce Wayne (Verdict: Nope, not a Bruce, not a Mr. Wayne, hell I would of settled for a Wayne Enterprises mention)
Hope we hear the John Williams Superman score at less once during the show, not just at the very end (Verdict: Nope, heard it on the ending credits, what we did get was a bastardized electronic version during Clark's flashback)
Hope Lana Lang does not make an appearance (Verdict: Nope, woo, not a sight, sound, or mention)

3 ½ out of 16, man I was hoping for at less 8 at the most, well I guess that's better then no hopes come true.
